Vivienne Westwood and CLO Virtual Fashion just asked the world's digital designers a question I find genuinely interesting: what does punk couture look like when it's built in a 3D file? 🖤✂️ CUT, SLASH & CORSET launched April 29, 2026 — a global 3D design contest hosted on CLO's CONNECT platform, powered by Epic Games' Unreal Engine and MetaHuman technology. Designers build a full digital outfit in CLO inspired by Westwood's two signature codes: tartans and corsets. The tension between tradition and subversion is the brief. The finished look is then visualized on a MetaHuman inside a custom Unreal Engine environment — the final presentation is not a photograph; it's a real-time 3D render. Judged by Vivienne Westwood's own 3D and CGI team. 40% brand identity and concept, 30% creative style and expression, 30% design details and completeness. Prizes up to $2,000. Submissions close June 11. Winners announced June 25. 🥇1st Place: @studio.mexe 🥈2nd Place: @natvirtualdesign 🥉3rd Place: @shalyn.webber I co-founded a fashion tech lab in Beijing with Tsinghua University and the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology. The designers who will change fashion are already learning to work this way — where the file is the first draft, the simulation is the sample, and the render is the runway. CLO and Westwood just gave those designers a serious brief to test that against.
