ThinkPad X200 + Quarkos Resolute 26.04 Plasma = Modern Linux on Vintage Hardware [0055]

I Installed Quarkos 26.04 Plasma on a 18-Year-Old ThinkPad X200 - Here's What Happened 🖥️ My ThinkPad X200 is now ‘old’ enough to be eligible for a driving licence— so, naturally, I decided to install a brand-new Linux distribution on this old workhorse. In this video, I install Quarkos 26.04 with the Plasma desktop on my old ThinkPad X200 and see how it performs in everyday use. Quarkos is a user-friendly, desktop-oriented operating system based on Ubuntu, featuring the Plasma desktop and integrated Q4OS tools. Unlike Q4OS, which is Debian-based, Quarkos is built on Ubuntu. A lighter Trinity desktop edition is also available. You can simply think of Quarkos as "Q4OS with an Ubuntu base." The ThinkPad X200 dates back to 2008–2009, typically shipping with a Core 2 Duo CPU and modest RAM — not exactly built for modern software bloat. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 💻 **Hardware Specs Used in This Video:** ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🖥️ Machine: Lenovo ThinkPad X200 ⚙️ CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 (2.26 GHz, Dual-Core) 💾 RAM: 4 GB DDR3 💽 Storage: 64 GB SATA SSD 🐧 OS: Quarkos Resolute 26.04 Plasma ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🔗 **Useful Links** ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ - Download Quarkos: [https://sourceforge.net/projects/quark-os/files/stable/1-plasma-live-media/] - Download Rufus: [https://rufus.ie] - Download balenaEtcher: [https://etcher.balena.io] - About ThinkPad X200 : [https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/pd025858-front-view-thinkpad-x200-x200s] - Learn more about Quarkos: [https://sourceforge.net/projects/quark-os/] - Learn more about Quarkos: [https://quark-os.sourceforge.io/] ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ⏰ **Timestamps:** ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 00:00:00 Part 01: Introduction 00:01:20 Part 02: Downloading QuarkOS 26.04 Plasma 00:02:52 Part 03: Preparation 00:03:20 Part 04: Creating the QuarkOS Bootable USB 00:04:55 Part 05: Entering BIOS Setup 00:05:14 Part 06: BIOS Settings for QuarkOS 26.04 00:05:25 Part 07: Booting the ThinkPad from USB 00:05:37 Part 0
