Today, Dr. Ibrahim talked about a traditional method (baal kale karne ka tarika) for giving grey hair (safed baal) and beard hair a dark appearance without ordinary chemical dye. He explains how to prepare one large red pomegranate with clean two-inch iron cobbler’s nails, tie it securely, and leave it hanging in sunlight for seventy-two hours. Afterward, the pomegranate is chopped finely and cooked slowly in one and a half cups of castor oil (arandi ka tel), preferably in an iron wok checked with a magnet. The darkened mixture is strained while hot, and a small amount of the prepared oil is applied carefully to the hair roots or beard with a toothbrush. He advises wrapping the treated area briefly, protecting your pillow with an old towel, leaving the application overnight, and washing it out the next morning. For washing, he suggests a homemade blend of reetha, amla, and shikakai (reetha amla shikakai shampoo), aloe vera gel, or genuine homemade neem soap instead of harsh commercial shampoo. He also discusses henna as a religiously preferred alternative for anyone who does not wish to use black colour.
