I Went to Paris for John Galliano’s Zara Re{Form} | Schiaparelli at the V&A | SET 03

I travelled to Paris to experience John Galliano's Zara Re{Form} collection in person — and ended up trying on more than I'd planned. But first, London. SET 03 begins with an unexpected connection between aviation and fashion, taking me to the Victoria and Albert Museum for the Schiaparelli exhibition. From Elsa Schiaparelli's iconic Skeleton Dress and surrealist creations to Daniel Roseberry's extraordinary sculptural designs, I explore the history, craftsmanship and imagination behind the fashion house. I also stop by the V&A's Burberry display to discover more about its British heritage. Then it's off to Paris for John Galliano's Re{Form} installation. I explore the collection up close, looking at the construction, deconstruction, fabrics and details that make Galliano's work so distinctive. I also share why the presentation reminded me of his Maison Margiela work in 2020 and the influence of London's New Romantic and Blitz Kids movement. And, of course, I couldn't leave Paris without trying the clothes on myself. From dramatically voluminous trousers to sheer embellished garments and leather jackets, I wanted to discover how these pieces actually look, fit and feel — beyond everything being said about them online.
