#shorts #bespoketailoring #howtomakeabespokesuit During this session, we tested a beta version of the system with Kimberley Lawton and Matthew Gonzalez. The main challenge is to simplify the steps and instructions to such an extent that even a person without any tailoring background could follow it through and achieve more or less the same results as an experienced tailor would. That’s the impossible task ahead of us. This requires us to go through several layers of evaluation. First of all, it is my job to make sure the steps and accompanying theories are coherent and in the right order. Next, I pass these instructions to Matthew and Kim. They go through them and highlight questions, faults, potential points of confusion that I have missed and feed this back to me. So here we are really answering the question “is this system understandable for other tailors who are familiar with the basics and have their own methods of working?” Once we have gone through this stage, we will test the system with people with no tailoring knowledge at all and process their feedback accordingly. It’s not easy to formulate an accurate system when a majority of its components are made of sub components that have all been internalised and turned into intuition. Therefore, articulating the intuitive background processes is as important as the “main formula” of the system. We are forced to wrestle with questions about perception, contextualisation of 2 dimensional objects in 3D space and more.
